Salary
Starting from £35,000 per year
Contract
Full-time, permanent
Hours

Elite Heritage is looking for an experienced vehicle technician or car mechanic to join our independent Autoworks workshop in Kettering.

You’ll work across everyday cars, modern German performance models, classics, luxury vehicles and occasional supercars. You must be confident diagnosing and repairing high-value, high-performance vehicles, with the technical ability and attention to detail these jobs demand. This role offers varied work, independence and the opportunity to help shape a growing workshop.

What we offer

  • Salary starting from £35,000 per year.
  • Monday-to-Friday working hours, 9am–5pm.
  • 28 days’ paid annual leave, including bank holidays.
  • A newly equipped workshop with brand-new vehicle lifts, tyre equipment and workbenches.
  • Varied work across customer vehicles and our own prestige and performance sales stock.
  • Dedicated admin support for bookings, parts ordering and customer communication.
  • Input into workshop processes as the business develops.

Your responsibilities

You’ll initially be our sole dedicated workshop technician, taking ownership of jobs from diagnosis through to completion. Our admin team will coordinate customer and technical queries, with you providing diagnostic findings and repair recommendations.

Your work will include:

  • Vehicle servicing, routine maintenance and inspections across multiple makes and models.
  • Fault finding and diagnostics on everyday, prestige and performance vehicles.
  • Brake, suspension, drivetrain and general mechanical repairs.
  • Engine repairs, including timing chain replacement, head gasket replacement and full rebuilds.
  • Inspecting and preparing vehicles from our sales stock.
  • Tyre fitting and related workshop duties.
  • Communicating repair requirements and maintaining an organised workspace.

Your experience

You’ll need:

  • Proven experience as a vehicle technician or motor mechanic.
  • The ability to diagnose faults and complete repairs independently from day one.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge across different manufacturers, including prestige and performance models.
  • Experience carrying out complex mechanical repairs and internal engine work.
  • Confidence handling high-specification, high-value cars with care.
  • Consistently high standards of workmanship and clear communication.
  • Relevant vehicle maintenance and repair qualifications are desirable, but not essential. We welcome experienced, time-served technicians with the practical ability, attitude and attention to detail this role requires.
