Morris - Mini

Presenting a very special 1967 Mk1 Morris Mini, originally supplied as an 850 Automatic and now converted to a period manual specification, finished in its original Almond Green with an Old English White roof. I purchased the car directly from its previous owner around five months ago, and it is now being offered through our sales business. It has covered a genuine 72,000 miles and comes with an exceptional history folder, including the original bill of sale, original green log book and even its original underseal paperwork.

The car underwent extensive restoration work around four years ago, including front floor pans, inner and outer sills, rear heelboard ends, rear wheel-arch closing panels and stiffeners, while a full exterior repaint in its original colours was completed in 2020. Numerous rubbers, seals and exterior fittings were also renewed. It now sits beautifully on Old English White reverse-rim steel wheels with Yokohama A032 tyres, complemented by period details including Lucas spotlights, bonnet safety clips and tan leather bonnet and boot straps.

Mechanically, this Mini is particularly special. It retains Hydrolastic suspension with rebuilt front and rear subframes, adjustable KAD bottom arms and tie rods, Cooper S hubs and front disc brakes, Hardy Spicer driveshafts, braided brake hoses and a KAD quick shift with Cooper S remote-change housing. At its heart is a 1330cc +60 genuine Cooper S thin-flange block, an engine with history dating back to competition use in the 1970s. Recently rolling-road tuned by Southam Mini, it is producing approximately 100bhp.

Inside, I have recently fitted Newton Commercial front seats, rear bench and parcel shelf, with the original seats also included. It retains many original interior features and has been enhanced with an original Mk1 Cooper 100mph speedometer, rare original Smiths 10,000rpm tachometer and 13-inch Moto-Lita steering wheel with ‘M’ horn push. The entire wiring loom has also recently been replaced for additional peace of mind.

Since 2023 there are invoices totalling over £12,000, and the car has just received a full service including engine oil, filters and spark plugs, together with a brake service. The original speedometer is retained and photographic evidence documents the instrument change, supporting the genuine mileage. The car is also MOT exempt.

Overall, this is a fascinating Mk1 Mini combining exceptional original provenance, genuine mileage, extensive restoration, period Cooper S running gear and a very special circa-100bhp 1330cc Cooper S-based engine. A hugely characterful example with a specification and history that sets it apart from the typical modified classic Mini.
